WORKSHOPS
OUR PHILOSOPHY
At Sacred Tie, safety and consent are not add-ons — they are the foundation of everything we do. Shibari, at its most authentic, is built on trust, awareness, and presence. Every knot tied and every moment of tension in the rope is shaped by clear communication and mutual respect. Without that foundation, there is no art, no connection, and no release.
This page shares the values and practices that guide each session — whether in private lessons, group workshops, or intimate personal experiences.
CONSENT AS AN
ONGOING CONVERSATION
Consent is never assumed, never implied, and never permanent.
It is a living dialogue that shifts moment to moment.
OUR FOCUS:
INTENTIONS
Begin each session with a clear conversation about boundaries, comfort levels, and intentions.
COMMUNICATION
Encourage participants to voice their needs at any time — no explanation required.
BOUNDARIES
Honor “no,” “stop,” or “pause” as full sentences, respected immediately.
AGREEMENTS
Revisit agreements as the session unfolds, ensuring both partners remain aligned.
SAFETY FIRST.
Always.
Rope can be grounding, powerful, and profoundly beautiful — but like any art involving the body, it carries risk. Our approach is designed to protect while deepening connection:
- Rope Safety: We use only high-quality rope suited for Shibari, inspected before every session.
- Body Safety: We avoid ties that create harmful pressure points or restrict circulation.
- Emergency Preparedness: Safety scissors are always close at hand; every tie is designed to be released quickly if needed.
- Education: Participants learn not only technique, but anatomy awareness and aftercare essentials.
COMMUNICATION AS CONNECTION
Shibari is more than knots — it is an ongoing conversation of bodies and breath. Connection deepens when we honor both spoken and unspoken language:
- Non-verbal cues — breath, body tension, eye contact — are respected as much as words.
- Both riggers and partners share responsibility for comfort and safety.
- Breaks are welcomed and encouraged — for stretching, grounding, or simply sharing water.
AFTER CARE:
CLOSING THE EXPERIENCE
Every rope journey ends with aftercare — the sacred process of grounding, integrating, and reconnecting after intensity. Aftercare may include:
- Gentle touch or massage to ease tension from the body.
- Warm blankets, tea, or quiet moments of rest.
- Space to share feelings, reflect, and ensure both partners leave the experience feeling seen and respected.
Aftercare is not optional — it transforms Shibari from a fleeting act into a complete and nourishing ritual.
